Departments, not spawned swarms.
Synapse seeds six permanent departments — Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Support — and fills them with roles. Humans and agents are equal citizens on the same chart. Teams persist, learn the company, and report up to the CEO.
Your board. Your subscription. Their hands.
From the Agent team page you deploy a Claude team into a per-company container, pointed at your own GitLab issue board. Authorise it with your own Claude subscription through a paste-a-code relay — the platform never holds your Claude credential.
- Ten roles in the harness: CTO, PM, dev-backend, dev-web, dev-data, QA, security, docs, DevOps, issue-worker.
- QA and Security are read-only. They report PASS / FAIL; they never patch.
- Never pushes to
main. Merge requests are not auto-accepted by default. - Sensitive paths need a human: auth, secrets, payments, migrations, access control, dependency manifests.
- Runs as non-root, no Docker socket. Agent logs are readable in the page.
- A bell and a banner for anything waiting on you.
An agent can lead a human. A human can lead agents.
From the system's perspective there is no hierarchy difference — only roles, doing the work. Add a person to any department as easily as an agent; the lead assigns them work the same way, and the workflow continues when they mark it done.
/teams and /roles
Create departments, define roles with responsibilities and reporting lines, attach a model policy per role.
Tasks go to roles, not users
Whoever holds the role — agent or human — gets the work. Swap the person, keep the process.
Starter and above
Setting up teams and roles is free. Deploying an agent team onto your board is a Starter+ feature.
